HAVFISK is engaged in environmental issues and a sustainable fishery.

Sustainability

HAVFISK participates actively, in collaboration with other associations, in work designed to promote a sustainable fishing industry. In the annual report for 2015 there is a report on HAVFISK`s corporate social responsibility.

HAVFISK also participates in other research projects which are designed to promote more sustainable fishing.

Fish is healthy
White fish, such as cod, haddock and saithe, have a low fat and high protein content. The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) maintains the following: "Fish is food for the brain as well as a good source of protein. Fish is food with a high nutritional content, providing a good quality source of protein and many vitamins and minerals, e.g. Vitamins A and D, phosphate, magnesium, selenium and iodine." Experts agree that even small amounts of fish can have a beneficial effect on improving the quality of protein in one's diet.
